Do you take my insurance? If you live in California, we can work with your insurance on an out-of-network basis. Every insurance company’s out-of-network policy is different and you’ll need to check with your insurance company to determine your out-of-network benefits and reimbursement requirements. If you would like a superbill, please ask at checkout and we will send you an itemized bill for those interested in insurance reimbursement to independently submit to your insurance company.

What is the benefit of working with an out-of-network provider? The benefit to you is a higher value of care and an experience that is tailored to your exact needs. You will always be one-on-one with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. You will always receive a plan of care that aims to get to the root cause of your problem. You will always receive evidence-based guidance that empowers you moving forward.

What does it look like to work with you vs. an in-network provider?In-network providers are limited in their abilities to help you. That is why it is not uncommon for patients to: -see several different physical therapists during your course of care -work with the actual physical therapist for 15-30 minutes (at every session if you are lucky), before being passed off to an unlicensed tech or aide. Techs or Aides are typically high school or college students without any formal training -be limited on authorized sessions regardless of how much pain your are in or how severe your medical issues are -be treated like a number and diagnosis rather then a human being with a story Working with us as our client and patient, you will receive: -a thorough examination and plan of care integrating your wants and needs with the evaluation of a Doctor of Physical Therapy -holistic care that includes a home exercise program, self-care techniques, and education that will help you live a healthier life -one-on-one care for your full session. We don't use aides or techs because we believe that you deserve better than that! -respect and care that makes you feel valued

Can I pay with my HSA/FSA card?Yes! We gladly accept Health Savings Accounts and Flex Spending Accounts for physical therapy care. You can use your HSA or FSA debit card as your payment method or submit your invoices directly to your HSA/FSA provider for reimbursement. FSAs often expire at the end of the year, so don’t let it go to waste!

What does a treatment session look like with you?Our philosophy is rooted in what the human body was created to do: move. Sessions will include movement analyses, frequent education, mobility work, and progressive resistance strength exercises. We don't do cookie-cutter treatments. You will receive the proper dosing of exercises and care based on your current physical presentation and identified problem areas. It is expected that you will leave every session with more knowledge of your current situation and ways to address it as we go along. You may also receive lifestyle management education reviewing stress management, sleep, and nutrition.

What sets you apart from other physical therapists?Shorter wait times to get scheduled. Most high-volume insurance-based clinics can have wait times of up to 3 months to get seen. You need help now, let us get you in and headed in the right direction sooner! A plan of care that addresses everything that is affecting your health. Insurances like to categorize human beings into a group of diagnoses, codes, or one specific body part, which comes with limited treatment sessions to work on the issue. The reality is, there is a whole human attached to that one body part and it all needs to be taken into consideration when solving your issue and getting to the root cause(s) of your problem. We are dynamic telehealth, virtual, and online options. Whether you are in California or somewhere half way around the world, we are making the commitment to finding a way to deliver help in a way that positively impacts you. Transparency in pricing and value. Insurances are purposefully confusing and always looking to influence the value of care that you are receiving. Oftentimes, you will have a high deductible to meet before your insurance will even begin helping cover your medical costs. From there, it can vary widely on what your coverage will be depending on which insurance you have! We then see the trickle-down effect of PT clinics seeing people twice per week for 3 to 6 months at a time and by the the time all is said and done you have still spent several thousand dollars out of pocket, given away hours and hours of precious time to appointments that you will never be able to get back, and are confused if you have even met your goals yet! When you work with us, you will always receive individualized care that is mindful of your situation, respectful of your time, and communication that will provide you with a roadmap of your healing timeline and progress. Quality one-on-one care with a Doctor of Physical Therapy. You get a full hour for follow-ups and have extended time to spend with your clinician during initial evaluations. Other clinics will rush you through a short interaction with your PT before handing you off to an aide to run you through exercises and finish the session off with a hot or cold pack to keep you happy. Not us. We want to get to know you, guide you, and help solve the issue that brought you here in the first place! Insurance doesn't get to dictate your care here. You will never be kicked out of your care plan because your insurance has decided to stop providing coverage. Your healing journey is a collaboration between the treating Doctor of Physical Therapy and you. There is no 3rd party influence here!

I've tried physical therapy before and it didn't work. What makes you different? We get this complaint a lot about past experiences with other providers! Physical Therapy in itself is not a specific treatment or modality, though most people believe it to be something that resembles the following: a massage, some exercises, maybe some tape or cupping, and relaxing with a hot/ice pack at the end. Many insurance-based clinics run similar to this because it allows for high patient volume and a hands-off system. Though you may be at the clinic for an hour or more, you are only with the actual PT for 20-30 minutes. When you look at what the provider is billing your insurance. though, you will notice that they are charging for more time then you spent with your therapist! We are here to change that and to better define the role of physical therapy for you. Physical Therapy (also known as Physiotherapy by the rest of the world) is not a service, but should instead be seen as a discipline of healthcare that specializes in the rehabilitation of the neuromusculoskeletal system. A PT is highly trained in using movement science to examine, evaluate, and treat those who are injured, those looking to reduce their risk for injury, or for those looking to improve their functional capacity. Every physical therapist (physiotherapist) may have a different approach, but should be using their best clinical judgment to develop an individualized approach for the impairments and limitations you are presenting with. This shouldn't look like a factory of patients lying on tables with ice packs, but should instead look like a healthy relationship where providers give their best care and patients are satisfied and getting better!

Do I need a doctor's referral to start working with you?No. You do not need to see your Primary Care Provider to get started.
-
How many sessions will I need? Our clinic does not set a generic number of sessions. We believe in an individualized care plan based on your specific needs, goals, and resources. After your initial evaluation, we will discuss an approximate number of sessions that are informed by the complexity of your situation.
-
What is your cancellation policy? To cancel or reschedule your appointment, you must notify us at least 24 hours in advance. You can do so by emailing, texting, or calling. In the event that you are unable to keep an appointment, please contact us as quickly as possible. We request cancellation or rescheduling 24 hours prior to visits to allow other patients to have access to that treatment time. E-mail, phone call, or text are all suitable means to communicate visit cancellation if the message is sent 24 hours prior to the visit start time.

Do you work only with men?Absolutely not! Even though we specialize in caring for men, pelvic floor physical therapists are trained to be able to effectively help everyone. Our providers are highly skilled in helping the person in front of them no matter their background or unique situation. If you have questions, don't hesitate to reach out!
-
Is internal work necessary?Though our clinicians are highly-trained in evaluating and treating the pelvic floor through internal examination and treatment, this is just one small piece of the puzzle. Since we are a virtual clinic, you will receive a thorough patient intake and a physical assessment for the following: posture, strength, endurance, mobility, range of motion, neural health, and function. All of these pieces of information are used to inform your treating clinician's plan of care and treatment choices. If an internal assessment is indicated, your provider will have a discussion with you about the possibility of referring out to a provider in your area.

Can I work with you remotely?Yes, absolutely. In fact, we are fully remote so we can reach more people! We love being in the online space because it allows us to have a far greater impact for those who may live in communities without pelvic health specialists or whom do not have access to the care they need!
-
Can I use my HSA/FSA to pay for personal training and nutrition coaching? In general, qualifying healthcare expenses include the cost of treatment or prevention of disease. If you believe you have a medical condition which would benefit from an exercise program or nutrition guidance like the one we provide, then we suggest that you talk to your physician and see if they will provide you a Letter of Medical Necessity.

Who do you work with?Though men's health is our specialty, we work with everyone! Our staff is highly trained in foundational strength and conditioning principles which helps us find success in working with first responders, athletes, and motivated adults looking to get in shape. We have specific sports performance training for baseball and softball players, but also train athletes from other sports. Our programs also work well for weight management, fat loss, muscle building, functional training, and overall lifestyle improvement!
-
Can I work with you remotely?Yes, absolutely! In fact, we work primarily with people remotely because they need access to high quality coaching. West Coast Performance and PT works with police officers and firefighters around the country, helps train wildland firefighters of the state and federal governments, and provides training for athletes around the world. Many of our general population clients who are focused on weight loss, healthy behaviors, and improved function find that remote training is convenient and highly personalized!
